Baptism tradition
« on: Tuesday 31 May 11 14:10 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know if there was a tradition of baptisms on Boxing Day ? I've suddenly come across a crop of them in  Derbyshire families in the eighteenth century......but I don't know if the facts that they were in Derbyshire or  took place in the eighteenth century is just coincidence

In case anyone is interested, someone has contacted me to say that Boxing Day was usually a day off for servants & it was one of the days when a lot of churches waived baptism fees.......so that could explain it
