Richard Sutton, Inn Keeper in Rathdrum
« on: Thursday 02 June 11 10:33 BST (UK) »

I'm wondering if anyone can see a Richard Sutton, born 1827 (married to Charlotte) in a directory for around 1820 to 1830 (if directories exist for this time) in Rathdrum please?
His son Richard married Elizabeth Manning  in 1852 and by this time he was a farmer..
This was the occupation given on the baptism records for his children.
Later he was listed as Farmer.
I'm trying to find his place of death also.
Thanks.

Two possible directories that I can think of for that timeframe that include Rathdrum :

Pigot's 1824

Just one Sutton listed in Rathdrum, a Wm. Sutton, baker

The Innkeepers listed are James Bates, Edward Canterbury,  Thos. Moreton.

Slater's 1846

Under Public houses -  Sutton John, Upper st

and in Shopkeepers & Traders

Sutton Lucy, linen draper, Upper St
