William COWELL (COWLE) Marriage

I have William COWELL (COWLE) ch. 2 Oct 1744 Kirk German. I have him marrying Catharine COTTIER 26 Feb 1775 at Kirk German.

As William would have been 31 + at the time of that marriage I wonder whether this could have been a second marriage.

To place him, his father and mother were:

Capt.James COWLE b.24 Sep 1702 Ballanquane married Alice COOPER ch.8 May 1707 Kirk German, on 24 Dec 1726 at Kirk German.
