Lavelle, Julia Mary born c.1858 Mayo
« on: Friday 03 June 11 21:15 BST (UK) »
Looking for info on family of this lady in Mayo in mid 19th Century, reputed to be Westport and possible family connection/business woolens -rugs. She appears in 1901census in Tullamore of which her husband was a native and in 1911 Birr.  She was R.C and married, around 1882, Patrick Clarke then an RIC member, reputed to have been stationed in Westport and known to have been in Carlow around the time of Bishop Croke. He had retired at the census years. Some of the childrens names were John, Ellen and Mary Angela. Patrick's side known from previous generation to present.
Grateful for any information
B.

Thanks for the help.  When I find marriage or death cert I should be able to progress this.  Not second/1863 as she was returned as Julia Mary with her daughter Julia Mary - obviously a strong family name, so - in both censuses in King's County. She was my grandfather's sister in law.
Does it give an address for the first/1857 Julia  and/or parent's names/address?  I am checking also with her great grandson.
Again thanks
BC

The two records above are from the index of the IFHF/RootsIreland pay-website, you have to pay to see the details recorded.

If it's an RC baptism it will probably show both parents full names, plus the date of baptism and the name of the parish. It may contain a place of residence for the family - which will often be the name of a townland.

You can add Julia's father's name (e.g. from marriage cert)  that the search to see if either of those records fit 'your' Julia

Thanks Annie - just checked listing in 1901 census and it infers her year of birth as  about 1857. Following her up now.

The town of Westport is in the civil parish of Oughaval, RC parish of Aughaval. Baptism records go back to 1845.

Brendan, I am the grandaughter of Martha/Louisa Keeley (nee Clarke).

Her mother was Julia Clarke! Family orign from Westport (Lavelles) and then Birr.

Yes my great great grandfather was Patrick Clarke of Birr, an army man who fought in India!!

What is your surname Brendan?
