STEPHEN and GLEGG Umbrella Menders in Stonehaven 1841
« on: Saturday 04 June 11 04:02 BST (UK) »
Anyone know more about John STEPHEN and Mary GLEGG please?

John Stephen born abt 1796 Fetteresso. Parents James Stephen and Isabella Walker.
In 1841 age abt 45 he was working as an umbrella mender mechanic in Barclay Street, Stonehaven. Later as an optician, died 1870.
Seeking to establish if his father James Stephen is related to my other Stephen ancestors.

His wife was Mary GLEGG  IGI batch C11258-5 suggests she was baptized 07 Feb 1804 Fetteresso,
father Alexander Glegg, mother not recorded.
1841 while her husband John Stephen is working as umbrella mechanic in Stonehaven (above)
Mary seems to be living with the Gleggs at Upper Baulk, Fetteresso with Robert and Jean Glegg (both age 50) and their family. Her relationship to them not known so far... she's an umbrella maker too.

Glegg may connect with BURNETT family, and Cruickshank.
