I am trying to find out about my Mum's biological family. Her name was Jane Struthers Muir born Muirkirk Ayrshire 1932. Mother was Annie Jane Muir born 1904. Father unknown. Mum was adopted by the McCalls of Garronhill house. I believe I met my biolgical great gandmother her name was Margaret Alexander. I think Annie married Thomas Laidlaw in 1941 and had other children. There was also another illegitimate son called John Muir.

There is a Laidlaw/Muir Marriage in 1941 in Ayrshire but because of date restrictions on Scotland's People you can't see the image which means a visit to a Scottish Registrar's Office, A visit to Scotland's People Centre or you can order it from Scotland's People. That would give you bride and grooms parents. (OR post a look up request for anyone going to look up for you).

Unfortunately the same problem with date restrictions apply to your mum's birth cert.

There is however a birth image for an Annie Jane Muir born in 1904 in Carnwath, Lanakshire (PM me your email and I can send) showing father as a George Muir and mum Margaret Ormiston Muir (Nee Alexander)

Your Annie Jane ditto:

Died 1983   MUIR   ANNIE JANE   LAIDLAW    aged 79   AYR   /SOUTH AYRSHIRE   680/00 0854 (searched for this one maiden name as first name which is why Muir name first)

Searching for the Laidlaw kids and tis possible but you'd really need somone to go to a Scottish Registrar etc (see previous posts). Given they may still be alive can't post here - see aghadowey's earlier post.

However you do have enough now to research back on the Muir/Alexander line so hope that helps!
