Welcome to RootsChat Kirsty77.

Lots of helpful people on here and masses of historical research answers to members queries. In the past I've found 'ancient' posts that answered/helped my researches/brick walls.

An Edmond Ball owned Stampwell Farm when he died in 1726 (Bucks Will DAWe: 62/61 DAWf: 74/190 ) and his family had been quakers. Many quakers had to go underground and transmogrified into Methodists in the later 1700s. The SE Bucks area centred upon Jordans is a notorious hotspot for missing non-conformist records in the 1700s. Many families disappeared in this period only to reappear when they were forced to by a change in law about 1765.

I know nothing about the Ball family, but vis-a-vis the Gloucestershire/Buckingham link I have a family (Bowlers) who definitely moved from Dunstable in Bedfordshire to Bath in Somerset in the early 1800s - proved by various census.  He was a stonemason so I presume there was more work in Somerset than in Bedfordshire.
