I think I am confusing myself..... ;D

The service record I downloaded from FindMyPast is indeed MY Fred.  The address matches up with the 1901 census.
So now my question is if someone was dishonorably discharged in 1901 can they be re enlisted in 1914?

I think on outbreak of war absolutely there were lots of guys enlisting
He looks like he was Royal Field Artillery in 01 so if he didnt declare anything in 1914 on enlistment he would have got away with it
