Hi am having problems trying to confirm my gt grandpas birth details all that I have is
michael hughes born 1843 knockmore ireland ,father edward hughes born claremorris circa 1826
I cannot order michaels birth cert until i can confirm that that is the year and the mothers maiden name
I have looked for a marriage of Edward but cannot find one

There are no birth certs before the start of full civil registration in 1864. For earlier dates you need to check to see what church records are available for the parish that Michael's family lived in.

There are about 20 townlands named Knockmore in Ireland - see the townland database at : www.thecore.com/seanruad

Claremorris is a town in Co. Mayo
