Do you have anything further on the possible siblings?  Do you have an obituary for Mary?  If not, maybe it would mention surviving siblings.

Not sure if this is the right bunch, but thought it was interesting:

SS Bothnia, from Liverpool & Queenstown to New York, arriving 28 Sep. 1891

Mary Collins, age 42, matron
Michael Collins, age 15 (I think), laborer
Maggie Collins, age 11, child
John Collins, age 7, child

All from Ireland and travelling to Connecticut.

There is a John Collins, Jr. close to the right age who died in 1910 in Derby on the Connecticut Deaths & Burials database on www.familysearch.org.
