COMPLETED THANKS - Patrick and Elizabeth Kyle - census help please
« on: Thursday 09 June 11 18:56 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anyone can find this couple in census records from 1861 onwards? They seem to have moved about a bit so not sure exactly where they'll be. Here's what I know about them from daughter's birth record:

Patrick - born c 1826 (from death record age) died Dec 1872 Whitburn  a miner

Elizabeth - I only know her maiden name is some variation on McCutcheon

According to daughter Eliza Jane Kyle's birth record they were married on 9 July 1855 in Rutherglen but I couldn't find that.

Children I know they had:

Margaret Devine Kyle b March 1856 Cambuslang
Mary Kyle b Jan 1863 Torphicen West Lothian
Eliza Jane Kyle b March 1865 Linlithgow
William Patrick John Kennedy McCutcheon Kyle (!) b July 1867 Linlithgow
Charles Kyle Aug 1869 Cambuslang
James Raeburn Kyle 24 September 1871

Hoping to get an idea of ages and where they were born. Elizabeth's parents names would be a bonus - couldn't find her death record!

That's strange - the info for that rather splendid name is from IGI. It says it's an extracted entry.  I'd assumed after 12 years married with daughters they thought they'd better get all the male relatives names into one!  ;D

Unfortunately I haven't written that down. I do know there was an RCE as he died at the pit. It doesn't seem as those it was an accident though - cause of death listed as heart disease. Parents of Patrick were given as Patrick (a labourer) and it said Mary Devline. Going by child's name probably Devine (but maybe Devlin).

Have you found any mention of any of the family on census records?

Hi Sancti - no I haven't looked them up on census yet.

Was at the records office this week doing a bit research for my friend and I was busy getting names and dates for her as far back as I could. It was only when I was putting the info into the family tree at home that I thought I could maybe just get a little more detail from the census.

I take it they are proving elusive on the census? Another visit to records office needed I think!
