Do you have Eliza Janes address when she married in 1883?

What was her occupation and who were her witnesses

All it says for address is Linlithgow (husband John Sommerville - Harthill). The witnesses were James Weir and John McNaughton. Neither of those surnames are familiar from family. Her occupation looks like Boot Closer!

One thought I had about Elizabeth if she's hard to find in 1881 is that she may have remarried. This could explain why I couldn't find a death for her although I did try under McCutcheon as well. With all the variations in spellings I've maybe not hit on the right one.

Think I have found Eliza Jane on the 1881 census with her aunt and uncle

John Duff 38 b Linlithgow shoemaker
Isabella Duff 38 b edinburgh
Jane Coil 16, niece bootcloser b. Linlithgowshire

Address: 149 High Street Linlithgow

Looks like Isabella and Elizabeth were sisters!

Definitely her - one of her grand children has the middle name Duff and I had no idea where it came from. That's brilliant - thanks!

Thank you so much - that is just brilliant! I think I have just found them in 1841 on Freecen in Edinburgh and the parents names match.

Thanks you for all that help. Another couple of names to add to the tree!

Thank you Sancti, Gali and Higgsy. With your wonderful detective work I now have rough ages for Patrick and Elizabeth as well as knowing where they were born and the bonus is parents for Elizabeth which I was missing.

Your help has been very much appreciated. Wonderful Rootchatters!  ;D
