Carosh - I have no evidence of a Westmeath connection for "my" McKeons, I'm afraid.

Dathai - thank you for the information. I had found the Wolfe Tone McKeon reference but not the one for Patrick Sarsfield McKeon. Irishgenealogy.ie has a record of him being baptised in the Pro-Cathedral on 10 Sept 1865 but the record image reveals the notation that he was 5 years of age at the time. Your information fills out the picture. On the same day as Patrick was baptised so was his 17 month old brother Robert Emmet Carey McKeon. Clearly the McKeon family spent a number of years in England but, oddly, it looks as if they awaited their return to Ireland before baptising their children.

Patrick Sarsfield McKeon married either Mary Ashworth or Mary Ellen Howarth in Rochdale Jan March 1886.
In turn his son Robert age 30 of 7 Elgin St son of the above Upholsterer married Mary De Quincey Bentley at St James,Mosside,Manchester 23 June 1917 one of the witneses was a Harry McKeon.
This marriage certificate viewable on Family Search.
