Recently I've been trying to find info about the family of a Thomas Elliott who married a relation of mine called Louisa Torrentine. He was born on the IOM about 1833 (according to the 1851 Census). Two Whitehaven newspapers announced his marriage in Melbourne, Australia, in 1856. I can find no proof that this marriage even took place. I know his father Thomas was a nailmaker, but he is something of a puzzle. I assumed he married Mary Quilliam in 1824, but couldn't find the baptisms of the three children named in 1851.

I've just been searching for refs to Thomas Elliott and Mary Q, and noticed that someone in Canada has put something about them on Genealogy.com.
