Agree. At 19 travelling in steerage would have been something of a challenge and adventure.

Have not sighted his death certificate but will get a copy to confirm details. One of his daughters would have provided the information at the time.

As with most relatives, it is another jigsaw puzzle for us, but an enjoyable search and journey for us.

A James Tregenza(no further info) travelled as steerage from Melbourne Sydney on 23rd October 1872 on the Blackbird.

Presumably that's the record you mention?

Did he come back here for a visit and return with his wife and 6 year old son James on 15 September 1899 from London to Sydney?

The BLACKBIRD was a coastal trading vessel only
