In 1911 census Carraneary is in Stradone D.E.D., Co. Cavan

Which probably ties in with this-

22 Dec.1896 "Laurentian" arrived Portland, Maine, U.S. from Londonderry, Ireland-
Blayney Poynton, age 22, farmer, Corranneary, passage paid by self, $70 with him, final destination New York, cousin Amy White New York.

His dad was a Farmer on the 1911 census too! 

So looks like he done quite a bit of traveling! will have to see if i can find out who Amy white is!

i still can not seem to find him on any incomming passinger lists for uk

Possibly found cousin Amy in 1900 U.S. Census- 98 Meeker Ave., Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York:
Amy White, born Jan.1853 Ireland, widowed, 7 children/3 living, to US 188_ (15 years?). Daughter Rose (born Nov.1878 N.Y.- father b.Ireland) and son Thomas (born Jan.1881 N.Y.)

If the above is correct then this might be the family in 1880 census- Brooklyn, Kings Co., N.Y.
John White, 35, Ireland, fireman in factory
Ann White, 33, Ireland, keeps house
Eliza White, 5, N.Y., at home
Rose White, 2, N.Y., at home
