""UK Army Roll Of Honour,1939-1945"
« on: Wednesday 15 June 11 00:14 BST (UK) »
I was looking on a Website for info about a relative when I came across a resource called the UK Army,Roll Of Honour,1939-1945.It details the death of a Dennis "D" Thorley,Rank Corporal, birthplace Yorkshire on the 7th of August 1944.I believe the middle initial D is wrong,it should be N.Could anyone verify the details from any other source please?

Regards
William Russell Jones.

www.cwgc.org only shows him as Dennis service number 3317689 Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment)

He was 25 and the son of Luke & Lilian and husband of Margaret of Wimbledon Surrey

I wonder if the record you saw is repeating his initial as the cwgc website does -
Name: THORLEY, DENNIS
Initials: D

Freebmd shows him as Dennis N b 1919 and Dennis N married 1943

It appears Margaret Elsie L never married again, she died in Sutton Surrey in 1986.

Given that the father is the soldier who died, the timing of the birth is extremely tight!

I have the details thanks,it can only be hoped perhaps that whilst the birth was registered in Apr/May/Jun 1945,it is maybe one of these with a delay in registering the child and he was born maybe late March!
