Help with Royal Artillery "Pensioner"?

Family were adamant that George ELLIS received an army pension yet, despite a visit to Kew by myself and a fellow researcher, I couldn't find him in the pension records.

George ELLIS born Southgate, Middlesex 1846

I assume joined Royal Artillery between 1861 and 1871
1871 census gunner in Royal Artillery and coachman to Edward KEATE RA captain residing at Mortlake, Surrey
1881 census residing Prittlewell, Essex - groom RA
Sep 1886 Edinburgh RA
1891 census can't find
1901 coachman
1911 army pensioner

I would be really grateful for any ideas as to the next step(s) to try and find out more about his army career.
