I don't think so. As far as I know, my Robert was Robert Clement, not Robert L. and William Snr. was a draper.

Where did you get the information on Roberts father?

The Robert that Kathy found was christened John Robert.

Hi,

Have just received Ray's birth certificate, doesn't give too much more info.

Father is Robert Walker, commercial traveller (drapery). Mother is Hilda Grace Walker (formerly White). Living at 15 Monivea Road, Beckenham.

Any further help would be so appreciated, so I can track down more info on Robert and Hilda.

I think I have found Robert in 1881/91
His brother was a commercial traveller (in cotton)
Parents were bakers & Confectioners

Any of this ring any bells??

I am wondering if he married Hilda out of the country -or if he did marry her at all I have found a marriage for him but not to hilda - think he may have married a couple of years before he got together with Hilda

Have you heard any other tales about him ?

Does anyof this ring any bells???

I may PM you before I post more info

Hi Suz!

I think you found them! That is fantastic! All the names etc tie in! Minvea Road is a constant - seems to be a family home for a while.

I am told that the son, Percy, was a chef on a Union Castle Liner and that he had a son who became a headmaster??

I have that in 1922 Robert was the licencee of a pub in North Fambridge, Essex - The Ferryboat Inn. Change of career?

I have searched high and low for a marriage certificate for Robert and Hilda - nothing....

This is wonderful - thank you so very very much for all your help!

Hi Suz,

Have attached a photo I have in my possession....6rom the info you have given me, I am guessing the guy in the doorway is Robert. The old lady holding a duck his mother? Standing I sailor uniform Percy. Seated with puppy Hilda and holding baby (Raymond???) Florence. She looks very much like a picture I have of Florence 40 years later.....maybe the occasion was Ray's christening??? What do you think?

I haven't heard any other tales about Robert - have almost no info on him. I Know Hilda married "again" in 1919 to a Walter Coutts and on the marriage certificate she is "spinster" although on Ray's birth certificate it says Hilda Walker, formerly White???

Please could you give me more details about Robert's previous marriage?

I found a Robert Walker born in 1871 in Driffield. Could that be him?
