this is who I think is the strongest possibility for "Robert"

Birth reg

Clement Robertson Walker
Jun qtr 1877
St Thomas Devon
5b 68

1881
16 Long Brook St Exeter devon
Emma Walker head M 46 Baker & Confectioner Brompton Middlesex
Edward son 18 Draper Exeter Devon (he was a commercial traveller in cotton)
George frederick son 16 Baker Exeter
Mary daughter 14 scholar Exeter
Annie daughter 12 Scholar
CLEMENT son 4 St Thomas Devon
John Bi?lham servant U 18 Baker Devon
RG11 2153 29 14

1891
Amberley Rd Leyton Essex
William Walker head m 58 cook Chelsea London
Emma wife 55 Brompton London
CLEMENT son 14 St Thomas Exeter devon
RG12 1345 82 12

can't find him in 1901

there is this marriage
Mar qtr 1903
Hackney
on same page
Alice Ellen Bennett
Florence Edith Lough
CLEMENT ROBERTSON WALKER
Isaac Wright

If they were a Catholic family maybe Clement  married and then met Hilda Grace - but possibly they posed as man and wife -hence him going by the name of Robert and her by the name Hilda Grace??

Hilda could easily have fibbed to her parents and said they married in Devon or elsewhere

Think the photograph is briliant

Could it be Hilda's parents and maybe Florence -or another sister

Is my imagination running riot -or is this the chap???

Gee whiskers! Very confusing but sounds very possible! Definitely something funny with him.....

I always thought there was something funny her side, as am told she just up, got remarried to Walter Coutts and emigrated to Northern Rhodesia. Then he died and she remarried Victor Morton. She always told Ray he was never to call her "Mother" or show her any affection - it was a secret???

I'm told Robert/Clement and Hilda went through a very messy divorce in the 1920's.....

Can you find another marriage for Robert/Clement producing a child - Madge?

Can't tell you how grateful I am for all your help, Suz, thank you so much!!

Don't recognise that Madge?

How would I find out details re: licencee of the Ferry Boat Inn?

I know in "Kelly's list" it seems to be him in 1922 as "Robert Clement Walker"

Suz,

Clement Robertson Walker seems to be the right guy. Seems he may have been christened John Robert??? I don't know how to send a link, but if you look at my post "Help finding William Walker" you'll see what I mean....

In 1861 he is Robert L (maybe mean't to be C?).

Why would he change his name so much?
