Queen Victoria's funeral
« on: Saturday 18 June 11 14:44 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know how many regiments might have been involved in the ceremony surrounding Queen Victoria's funeral?      My granny always told me that she had a brother who was a member of the honour guard at the funeral, but the only brother of hers that I can trace as being in the army at the time was in the Dorsetshire Regiment.         I'm wondering whether he might have been involving in guarding the coffin at some stage as it made its way from the Isle of Wight.       I'm beginning to think that this honour is a bit like 'Queen Elizabeth slept here' as I have seen so many other claimants for it!

To give you an idea of the number of Army and Navy personnel involved, you may like to watch the Pathe Film of the event.

Yeees, I see what you mean.....   What a great site!   Thanks very much for this.    Hours of viewing now ahead.    (I'm sure I saw Uncle Fred fifth from the left in the twenty-seventh frame.)
