Re Lehan (Lehane, Leehan, Lyons) - My g-g-grandmother JULIA LEHAN was b. in County Cork circa 1825, city or parish unknown. Parents' names unknown. I'm sure she was catholic; on Sept. 15, 1849, she married JOHN CHINNERY, probably in County Cork. They went to Wales, where their four children were b. in the 1850s. The youngest, MICHAEL CHINNERY (b. 1858) would become my g-grandfather. JOHN CHINNERY d. in Wales circa 1858 and Julia subsequently emigrated to NYC with the four children, probably by 1865. She lived in Yonkers, Westchester County, NY, with the children. All of them worked in factories. I believe Julia died sometime between 1870 (when she appeared in the Yonkers, NY census) and 1876, when the City of Yonkers began keeping death records. She is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Yonkers, with her two children John and Catherine Chinnery. Does anyone have info on JULIA LEHAN CHINNERY's parents or siblings?

My g-g-grandmother was Julia Lehane, born somewhere in County Cork, Ireland, ca. 1825. She married John Chinnery Sept. 15, 1849, place unknown, probably in a Catholic church in Cork. John Chinnery may have been Catholic OR Church of Ireland (Anglican). Julia was Catholic. Couple went to Wales, where their four children were born in the 1850s: James, Catherine, John and Michael (my g-grandfather). John died in Wales in 1858 and Julia subsequently emigrated to New York with her four children. There she lived in Yonkers, close to NYC. I found her in the 1870 census of Yonkers with the children but not in the 1880. I believe she died 1870 and 1876, when Yonkers began keeping death records. She is buried in St. Mary RC Cemetery, Yonkers, with her children John and Catherine. I have been unable to learn the names of the parents of John or Julia Lehane Chinnery nor whether they had siblings. Been searching for years. Please help if you can.

the name chinnery is not too common in cork those that appear on the 1901 census are mainly church of ireland. there are a few chinnery's on the irish prison register at family search.org around the right time period for yours wether this would be any help in nailing down an area of residence i'm not sure.
