Lt Edward Hackett RN, Paul Hackett, Walesby
« on: Thursday 23 June 11 14:00 BST (UK) »
I am trying to establish the relationship between Lt Edward Hackett RN born 1/12/1793 Walesby who died 1853 age 60 at Reading Berks. His wife was Mary Ann and his children- Edward born 1835, Francis 1844.
With my Gr Gr Gr Grandfather Paul Hackett. From Parish records- When his son Richard was baptised 27/4/1823 their abode was Tealby. (2 miles from Walesby) His Wife Ann ms Child and His Children were Fanny born 1821, Paul born 1823, Catharine born 1828, Maria 1830. In 1841 Census the family was at Walesby with Father Paul absent. From the NBI3rd edition a Burial recorded 14 Jan 1832 Paul Hackett 48 Lincolnshire Walesby, St Mary & All Saints. Likely him- Therefore born 1784.
My Uncle Edward now deceased was certain he was named after Lt Edward Hackett and gave me Lt Edwards Obituary and a vague family tree. The problem was that my Uncle Edward,s Father Vanished in 1929 due to insolvency when Uncle Edward was 14 so his knowledge  not surprisingly was vague.
It is clear to me that they were Brothers but can anyone help me confirm or resolve it.
I hope that all makes sense.   Thanks Jon

Hello Jon

Not sure whether you have had luck in resolving this since your post on 23 June but there are several entries for the HACKETT family of Walesby on familysearch - www.familysearch.org

Paul Hackett & Elizabeth appear to have bpt the following children in Walesby:
Elizabeth 14 Apr 1782
Paul 01 Jun 1783
Mary 1784
Richard 1785
John 1786
John 1787
Hannah 1789
Anthony 1791
Edward 1793

In 1851 Edward HACKETT born c1784 Walesby was Governor of the County Gaol, Reading. As you say Paul cannot be found in 1841.

The dates you have for Edward (c1793) & Paul (c1784) would certainly tie up with children born to Paul & Elizabeth.

Keziah

Hi Keziah Yes I discovered Family Search. I have sorted it all out. Paul 1 june 1783 is my Gr Gr Gr Grandfather. Edward 1793 is Lt Edward RN (Governor of Reading Gaol from 1833) and therefore my Gr Gr Gr GrandUncle (Is that how you say it)
Thanks for you time, interest and expertise Thanks Jon
