Thanks Allan and Sandymc. Much appreciated. Need to link William to Wrentham which seems to be where original Samuel came from.

Is that a positive on the marriage? There are so many Williams and the family did move around a lot.

I also have a marriage for William and Rebecca Warnes in Worlingham 1813. Talk about confusing.

Hello Kamar

Could this be your man?

1841C William BALLS c1786 & Sarah living Southwold, Suffolk with children
Emily 1826, James 1831, Susan 1831, Thomas 1826, Fanny 1826, Charlotte 1840.

1851 Still in Southwold William BALLS pob NK(not known) , Suffolk, which is not at all helpful ???

However from the Suffolk Mariage Index William BALLS married Sarah HAZEL 19 Apr 1826 Beccles.   Beccles is just west of Barnby & the date would tie in just about with the first child born to the above couple.

From the Suffolk Burial Index William BALLS buried 8 Mar 1854 age 67 Southwold.

Its a long shot but it could be your man.

Keziah

ps.  I should have said that in 1851 Sarah gave her place of birth as Walberswick - walberswick is just south of Southwold.

Thanks Keziah

I'll follow it up a bit. So many William Balls. There is a suspicion he may have emigrated to Canada, which doesn't help.

Cheers Kamar

The marriage you had
William BALLS - Rebecca WARNS 21 Jan 1813 Worlingham - gives Williams parish as Benacre, which is fairly close to Wrentham.

but there are two other William BALLS marriages in that area, neither describe William as a widower.
William BALLS of Barsham - Mary WYATT 12 Apr 1819 Worlingham
William BALLS - Abigail MUTTIT 27 May 1817 Wenhaston

The couple I found on the CR's can probably be eliminated if you think he emigrated.

Good luck
K

Thanks Keziah. I didn't realise Benacre was so close to Wrentham. Did the marriage to Rebecca Warns state that he was a widower? I din't think he was at that point, but Rebecca died in 1825, so he would have been then. The problem with the emigration is finding records. I don't suppose it gives his father's name does it?
If he belongs to the family I'm suspecting 3 sisters got married in Benacre. I'm wondering if he belonged to Samuel and Sarah of Barnby.

Thanks again for your help.
Cheers
Kamar
