Hello

That's brilliant. Thanks very much.

Charles Lennox (d 1909) is my great-great Grandfather. His son William and his family moved to New Zealand, and as they say, the rest is history!

Plot 570 and 550 are my closest relatives. Plot 512 and Claud Reid in plot 367 are also related. Those in the other plots are likely not my relatives.

If you do get a chance to get some headstone photos that would be great.

It looks like the mid-1800s in Wishaw were pretty tough!

Compliments of the season.
Thanks again.
Roger

I don't think I have asked this specifically before.   Do you have a photo of the tombstone of John Russell d 1884 and Margaret McAlpine, d 1857?   also on the stone are dau Marion, daug Marge, grandson William Gilchrist, and dau Janet.   this is #55 in the 1972 Brownlee transcription.

Thank you,
Judy Russell

Hi Judy, so sorry to have taken so long to reply, I have had a look and no, I don't have a picture of that particular stone. It may not even exist any more. Is your trip still going ahead as planned?
Kind regards ….. J.

Hello and thank you for the response.  Yes, our trip (barring corona virus snafus) is set for the last week in Jun.   I was thinking one day I would pick up or meet Iain George and then make an attempt to find the tombstone that, apparently , was found by mr brownlie in 1972.   Probably not too good a chance of finding, but certainly there are many kin in the newer Cambusnethan Cemetery in town.

Hi Ard,

I've had a look and can't find pictures of Halliday & Paterson or of Littlejohn & Young but, I do have Young & Littlejohn, would this be what you are looking for?
I will post what I have and try to get to the churchyard tomorrow and look for the rest. (Weather permitting!).

The 1st picture, Halliday & Brownlie, inscription reads -"Erected by Thomas Halliday and Marion Brownlie in memory of Robert Halliday their son who died 16th April 1840 aged 1 year and 6 months".

Paterson, Torrance, Gilchrist - Hamilton Lanarkshire.
McCallum - Oban, McKechnie - Ross of Mull Argyll.
Scrim - Perthshire.
Liddell - Polmont,
Binnie - Muiravonside Stirlingshire.
Curran, McCafferty, Stevenson, McCue - Co Donegal
Gibbons, Weldon - Co Mayo.
Devlin - Co Tyrone.
Leonard - County Donegal & Glasgow.

September 1857 aged 24 years. Marion Paterson died 9th June 1868 aged 76 years. Archibald Littlejohn died  ........... 187(.) aged 8(5) years".
On the reverse side of the stone -
"Marion Littlejohn died 15th November 1886 aged 70 years".
Paterson, Torrance, Gilchrist - Hamilton Lanarkshire.
McCallum - Oban, McKechnie - Ross of Mull Argyll.
Scrim - Perthshire.
Liddell - Polmont,
Binnie - Muiravonside Stirlingshire.
Curran, McCafferty, Stevenson, McCue - Co Donegal
Gibbons, Weldon - Co Mayo.

Young & Littlejohn. This inscription is badly worn, the nearest I could get to it was -

"Erected by John Young and Isabella Littlejohn in memory of their daughter Janet who died ............ (1831) aged ...... months".
Paterson, Torrance, Gilchrist - Hamilton Lanarkshire.
McCallum - Oban, McKechnie - Ross of Mull Argyll.
Scrim - Perthshire.
Liddell - Polmont,
Binnie - Muiravonside Stirlingshire.
Curran, McCafferty, Stevenson, McCue - Co Donegal
Gibbons, Weldon - Co Mayo.
Devlin - Co Tyrone.
Leonard - County Donegal & Glasgow.
