Fynneys where were they born?
« on: Tuesday 28 June 11 14:26 BST (UK) »
I am researching Augustus Caesar Fynney b 1819-1884 He has two children with his second wife, Susan; Augustus Frederick Fynney b 1871 Douglas and a Maude Louisa Fynney b Douglas 1881.

I am trying to ascertain Susan's maiden name, I have been unable to trace any marriage between these two nor have I been able to find any registration of the two children.
The English 1891 census shows Susan as a widow with her two children. I can find nothing on the English BMD
I have checked the ManxBMD index without any success, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas and how accurate is the ManxBMD index.

Thanks for that, I had the 1891 and 1871 but not the 1881, I had obviously suspect that the mother could be Susan Jones, but no evidence, the 1881 census helps, also it's Hayfield and that is the location of the death of wife no 1. in 1878

I wonder what name they used to register the children? Perhaps they never married.

I would have thought it most likely that Maude L was the daughter of Susan and Augustus.
Maybe Maude was born "out of wedlock", and Susan went to IoM to give birth, secretly?

Then I'm not sure why the elder son, Augustus/ine Frederick, would have also been born in IoM?
