Thomas B STRINGER m. Christina S MANLEY
« on: Wednesday 29 June 11 11:46 BST (UK) »
This couple were Protestant, and they married May 17, 1852. They were born in 1824 and 1826, respectively, and Christina's parents were George Manley and Jane Tuke.
On the other hand, I know nothing about Thomas besides his birth year, and the fact he died at sea en route to New Zealand to live with his son William. This happened Dec 23, 1880.

The children of this couple were William (1853), George (1856), Mary Jane (1860) and Alice (1862).

I would like to know more about Thomas, especially his middle name. Knowing Christina's might help too.

Thanks.

Unfortunately all the family were all born before the start of civil birth records (1864), so you will have to check the what parish records there are for the area they lived

which parish did the marriage take place in ?

Does the marriage cert not give residences for the bride and groom, and a father's name for Thomas ?

I got the marriage day from this website, http://www.cmcrp.net/Wicklow/ArklowM14.htm.

All else is family knowledge - relatives may have the marriage certificate but I don't.

here's an extracted version of the record from FamilySearch - a civil cert would have a bit more detail.

  Groom: Thomas Stringer
  Bride: Christina Manley
  Marriage date: 17 May 1852
Marriage place:   Kilbride, Eneriley, Co. Wicklow
  Groom's father: William Stringer
  Bride's father: George Manley

Places mentioned on extracted records are usually districts, rather than exact townlands. There are a number of locations in Co. Wicklow named Kilbride..

I'll look for the BMD index references for the marriage..

Marriage references from the BMD Index on FamilySearch:

  Name: Thomas Stringer
  Registration district: Rathdrum
  Event type: Marriage
  Year: 1852
  Volume : 9 / Page : 619

  Name: Christina Manley
  [same references as Thomas]

A marriage cert would give you a few more details that might help - residences of the bride & groom, father's names, occupations, the name of the church or registry office, names of two witnesses, and possibly the ages of the bride and groom - although this is often recorded as 'full age'

I'd be interested to know who William's wife was, because I've found an Ancestry thread about Stringers in Eneriley:

http://boards.ancestry.co.uk/thread.aspx?o=0&m=3188.3.3.1.2.1&p=localities.britisles.ireland.wic.general

Once again, thanks for your help

I would say the correct spelling for the townland would be Ennereilly. It's located in the Civil parish of the same name, and in the Registration district of Rathdrum - which fits with the marriage registration district.
(Church of Ireland parish are usually the same as civil parishes)

I dont see any mention of records for this parish on the RootsIreland/IFHF website or on the RCB handlist...

I am assuming that by Protestant you mean Church of Ireland - the term covers other denominations
