James Anderson in Hawick
« on: Thursday 30 June 11 15:09 BST (UK) »
Hi

Am trying to track down When James Anderson, b 1874 Hawick died.
I have been told he died in a railway accident whilst at work on the railway. He was living in Hawick at the time of his death, and thats all I know.

He was married to Ellen Richardson 10th June 1897 in Hawick who survived him and remarried later to a Walter Romanes, have yet to find when this new marriage happened though.

Does anybody know where I should begin? He had 3 kids, the youngest - Grace, born in 1900, not sure when the other two, Thomas & Margaret, were born. Have trawled through as many sites as I can, but cannot find any Death registered  ???

All help gratefully appreciated

Carolyn  :)

Have you checked the 1911 census to see if he was still alive at that time

Pay per view only on Scotlands People

Hi Carole that was quick

Thank you for the marriage info on Ellen Anderson and Walter Romaines, that was new info for me  :-*

Regarding James Anderson, I haven't got a definate location in the 1901 census, he was away on census night, and Ellen was described as wife of a railway surfaceman - not a widow, she was staying at her mothers home with my nan, Grace Anderson b1900, havent accessed the scottish 1911 census yet, will have a go at the pay per view site, when I get a chance,  Thanks for the reminder that the 1911 census is now open to the public, last time I looked for scotland, it wasn't up and running for Roxburghshire, so have been chasing the English side of the family.  :)

Thanks for your time and help, your a superstar  :-*

Happy Hunting
