Lovey,

Just a tip that I came across recently.  Often, one can't get a legible picture when photographing old stones due to their age and condition.  If you take a small bag of flour and sprinkle it on the stone being careful not to get it in the engraving, you then get a far clearer photograph and the flour washes off in the next rainstorm without damaging the stone.
