Donovan/McCarthy marriage 1788
« on: Wednesday 06 July 11 12:30 BST (UK) »
Have found a marriage between John Donovan & Margaret McCarthy in Charleville Co.Cork  Jul 1788.  Unfortunately no christian names given for fathers of groom or bride.  However in the notes is written "John Donovan and Margaret McCarthy were discharged by the RD Mr Edmond Donegan" -  can anyone advise what this means?

Regards

My guess is it just means he was the officiating clergy.  RD=Reverend
