Hi shearg

There won't be a will, letters of administration were granted instead, so don't send off for it.

All you'll get is an A4 sheet of paper with the same details as the calendar entry on it.

Thanks Dawn, you just saved me £6. Maybe I will see if I can find an e-mail address for the Hospital and see if I can get any records that way.

I have recently tried exactly that for Hillingdon County Hospital, and they tell me that as an NHS establishment they need only keep records for 25 years. The death I needed info on was in 1932  :(

They suggested the LMA but their records are closed for 100 years.

Hope you have better luck than I did.Have you actually splashed out the £9-25 and got a copy of the death cert yet,you can learn a lot from them too.

Carol.
No I haven't ordered the death certificate yet, maybe that is the way to go.
I have been just so surprised to even find his death in England. All this time I thought he had died in the States.

Hi Carol

Even though the records are closed for 100 years, you can still make an application to see the file if you send in a copy of the person death certificate.

Research from the LMA is costly though, it has gone upto to £50, and you may get very little for your money. It is the older records that are very detailed.

If you send me the name of the person and the dates concerend I can have a look at the LMA catalogue next time I'm there to ascertain what they do have in the way of surviving records.

Hi Carol

PM received but I haven't been to the LMA this week, I've been working away from the office. Might get there tomorrow, if not, Monday.
