Seeking Owen Lamb
« on: Friday 08 July 11 23:32 BST (UK) »
I am seeking any information on Owen Lamb, married to Catherine Reilly,  Owen emigrated to the US sometime in the 1850s and according to family legend fought and died in the US Civil War, His two sons, Patrick and William (my GGF) emigrated to US in the 1860s and settled in Pittsburgh, PA.  Catherine, their mother, stayed in Ireland.  According to the marriage records of William and Patrick (who married the McGovern sisters), they were born in County Monaghan (no further detail available).

Thanks

Hi,
I just joined this site and i see that you are searching for info on Owen Lamb. I am also.
I am a descendant the Anne McGovern, a sister of the two sisters that married the the Lamb brothers.
I have been interested in finding info about the entire family.

I was also wondering if you may have additional info on the McGoverns

THanks.

Hello cousin, nice to meet you.  I am descended from Mary McGovern Lamb through my Mother's family.

If you are a member of ancestry.com, visit either the McGovern Menzler family tree or the Lamb-Peterson family tree fro as much information on the McGoverns' as we all have.   Lamb-Peterson is maintained by a descendant of Patrick Lamb and the the McGovern Menzler tree is run by a descendent of Peter McGovern (I think). I would refer you to my own tree, but I have been lax in actually putting a tree together and on-line.

All we know for sure is that Martin McGovern (father of the sisters, et. al.)was born in Ireland in 1807 and died in Pittsburgh, PA on 17-December 1890. He was married to Julia Moran who lived from 1820 - 1886 (also died in Pittsburgh). They are buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in the Lawrenceville district of Pittsburgh. I believe that they came over in 1848.

If you know anything about where Martin or Julia may be from in Ireland, I would be interested in hearing it.  One of our cousins is contracting with a researcher in Ireland and we can piggy-back on that effort.

Nice to hear from and look forward to hearing somemore.

Regards,

Charles A. Duffy
Healdsburg, CA, USA

Hello Cousins...especially the new one I have not yet "met".  Charlie has given you his pedigree, I am the GG dtr of Patrick Lamb.  As you know or Charlie has pointed out, his GGF and mine married sisters.  We are keen to learn anything we can about where the McGovern family came from in Ireland.  Baptismal records for the children of Patrick and Bridget (McGovern) Lamb indicate Co. Monaghan.  I do have the immigration record for Martin and then later, his wife Julia with Ann, Peter and Bridget.  The other children were born in the US.  Am happy to share what we know/have found.  Have contracted with Eneclann in Dublin to try and expand and prove our information.  Anything you have that may help would be most appreciated.  Pat

OK, got a problem...am in Pittsburgh without my notes or MY laptop and am heading for Carnegie Library on Monday with one of my objectives being to find the obit for Ann McGovern Martin however, I have not added a DOD on my A.com and it will be tough going without a ballpark of an idea.  I hope you see this and can give me a date.  I am assuming she died in the Allegheny Co. area.  Will check back here (can't access my email from here either Charlie) and hope you have the information I need.  Pat
