Thank you.  Yes I agree that is your George F in 1930.  I think status widower was a matter of convenience ;)  His age was incorrect on his death reg in 1946.  I wonder if he knew what happened to his first wife and chn.

Now you can spend sometime working out a connection with Aubrey Righton GIBBS who was born in WA in the 19thC.

I wonder what info is on The 1939 Register?

Cheers
Cando

Death certificates arrived this morning, and I can confirm that they are the ones I was looking for.

1941 Kate Sandilands Age 55 (Wife of George Frederick Sandilands, Retail Drapers Assistant)
Informant is M E Broad, sister, 2 back 317 Heath Street.
1946 George Frederick Sandilands Age 66
Informant is M Bright, who gives address as 2 back 317 Heath Street.

I am wondering if this M E Broad/M Bright may be the same person, and also the third person listed on the 1939 as "1 more person on this record"

That's excellent news, FS. It's always good to be able to close off a branch.

I had a look for a marriage of a Broad to a Bright and couldn't see one.

I couldn't find a Bright/Broad marriage either.

However, it would mean going off at a tangent, although it would be nice to find Kathleen Broad's immediate family.

I have decided not to pursue the Gibbs line any further than has ben revealed on this thread. As you will note from my original posting 5 years ago, my intention was to find out what happened to George Frederick Sandilands and those with that surname. Still a little hazy, but I can be fairly sure that he did not go to Australia. Maybe we will never know why.  It seems sad that he did not know his children, and I wonder if the two admissions to Workhouses had any bearing on the matter.

Still, until Sally McGlew resurrected this thread, I had more or less forgotten that I had made the original request! It just goes to show, that family research is never finished - there are new things coming on line all the time.

I was only thinking  of this thread the other day when someone mentioned the author you referred to on another board!  Now for the life of me I cannot find it!

I haven't received any information from you - can't see anything on my messages section either.
