I know this might sound like a really silly question, but how is Wincle pronounced? 

Is it Winkull or Winsull?

Hopefully someone can put us out of our misery.

I've always heard it with a hard c - like the shellfish. (Not  a silly question with the eccentricities of English pronunciation)

It's been a bit of a niggle, just like trying to pronounce Wildboarclough, but I know how to say that one.

Nickie - you're welcome. I'm lucky in that my parents grew up in the same general area as their ancestors so I'm familiar with the names of most places I turn up on my tree; though I did have to ask about one recently that was new to me. I've ancestors in Wincle churchyard (not Browns, though).
