The Irish civil index is online (births 1864-1958) but you need to order the birth certificate to see the full details. IGI (www.familysearch.org) has some extracted Irish births 1864-c1882 which do list date of birth and parents' names. LDS Pilot site also has some early Irish birth registrations but for 1900s the birth details will not be available online.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Have you found the family in 1901?

Looks like they had 3 children before Antony.

Have you found birth certs for any of the children?

Dara.

Forget original post - I just re-read.

For notes on searching the BMD Index and ordering Certs from the GRO see :

See :
  Introduction to Irish Records
  Ordering Certs from GRO Roscommon

If your Duffys were born in the city area then it's also worth checking the parish records on www.irishgenealogy.ie
