TAYLOR family 1823 - 1880 Wiltshire
« on: Wednesday 13 July 11 00:22 BST (UK) »
I am researching the family of
John TAYLOR  b Chew Magna Somerset bapt  19-10-1800 and
Rebecca LEACH b circa 1804-08 probably in Stroud Gloucestershire.
The family can be found on the 1841 in Trowbridge Lane, and 1851-1881 census returns in Hilperton Road (various numbers )
They married in Hilperton 5-1-1823 and had at least 5 children in Hilperton, Wilts
James b circa 1823 bapt 19-3-1826, Hannah b circa 1825 bapt 19-3-1826 , Rececca bapt 3-8-1828, John cbapt 20-6-1830 , Jabez bapt 22-4-1832.
then at least 6 children in Melksham , Trowbridge
Elizabath bapt 20-9-1838, Joseph Sept qtr 1840, Dorcas c Sept 1842, Samuel c 1844, Benjamin 19-5-1846, Jacob Mar qtr 1849.
The ancestry in our tree is through Benjamin , he married Annie CHIRISTON in her parish church of Batheaston, Somerset on 19th Oct 1867 - see separate posting .
Their family of 12 features as a list ( probably from a family bible) see separate listing.
As far as John and Rebeccas children, I believe  we have the following
James possibly married Jemina LONG in 1846 and they probably migrated to Australia in1855
Hannah married Hezekiah PHILLIPS they had 5 children.
Rebecca married George FLUKE and had 5 children.
John pos married Lydia OBORN in 1857 or Mary ?
Jabez  married  Emma TIMMS b 1853 and had 5 children.
Dorcas married  Edward ISLEY in 1866
do any of these families appear in your tree, or can you add any specific date details from information already researched.

Re: TAYLOR family 1823 - 1880 Wiltshire - Fluke connection

HI, I have just seen your post - I am researching the Fluke family.  It could be that the Fluke you mentioned is one that I am also searching.  I have a George Fluke  b. 1831 and m. Rebecca
Our family seems to come from Trowbridge area, Wiltshire.
Could we be searching for the same man?  Cheers
