After having spent many enjoyable hours over many decades as a volunteer tennis administrator, (and former competitive player) this is the first time I have used my tennis referee’s handbook for family history purposes. I am delighted.
As at 31 March 1930, E F Moon of Qld was ranked Number 1 in the Rankings of Male tennis players in Australia (No. 2 was J Crawford from NSW, and No. 3 was H Hopman from NSW)
31 March 1931 E F Moon was ranked # 3
31 March 1932 E F Moon was ranked # 7 (equal with R O Cummings of Qld)
31 March 1933 E F Moon # 7
31 March 1934 E F Moon # 6
31 March 1935 E F Moon # 7
31 March 1936 E F Moon # 8

Australian Championships (Lawn Tennis)
Mens Singles Winner 1930 E F Moon
Mixed Doubles Winners 1929 Miss D Akhurst and E F Moon
Mixed Doubles Winners 1934 Miss J Hartigan and E F Moon
Miss D Akhurst won the Womens Singles in 1925, 26, 28, 29, 30
Miss J Hartigan won the Womens Singles in 1933, 34, 36
Miss D Akhurst name also appears on the winners lists for various years in that era in Womens Doubles.
Australian Championships (Hardcourt)
E F Moon’s name does not appear on my list of winners of that title, perhaps because my earliest records for that event start at 1938.
Australasian Veterans Championships
E F Moon’s name does not appear on my list of winners at those titles; my lists start from 1971
Queensland Championships (my records go back to 1889)
Mens Singles Winner 1932 E F Moon.
As E F Moon represented Queensland, it is very likely that Tennis Queensland would have information about him. Here is the link to that organisation.
http://www.tennis.com.au/qld/ Now, should I put my book that gave me that info back on my shelves for tennis, or find a place for it among my family history books ! What a wonderful dilemma. (it will go back with the tennis)
Many Cheers,
JM
