Census: Harriet/Eli Turvill
« on: Saturday 16 July 11 01:42 BST (UK) »
I am having trouble chasing this family.
Harriet Mann married Eli Turvill 1834 Bramley Surrey. I cant find out what happens to them. There is a James Turvill bapt 10/5/1839 Godalming who maybe one of the children. I hope someone can help find them in the census.
Thanks
Shauna

Hi Shauna, the James b c 1839 Surrey is in the Guildford Union Workhouse aged 3 Census Ref HO107/1080/ 3/43/ 9.

The only Eli Turvill is aged 35 b Hampshire and residing in Hampshire.

Do you have any of them on later census returns?

Thanks Keyboard86,
I have nothing to follow on this family. Does it say that Eli is a widow? as it could be him.
Is it possible to find James in the 1851 census to see if his circumstances change?
I am from the Mann family and someone said there was a Turvill relation so I am just trying to follow this up. I dont know what happened to Harriet born 1811.
Cheers

Hi Shauna, when I looked at the 1851 Census the Eli I found in 1841 is single, but there is another Eli with wife Elizabeth in Chelmsford Essex on the 1851 aged 56 and 51 respectively, but with James in the Workhouse, IF that was there child then it could be that they both have died?

Thanks Keyboard86,
I appreciate your help. Back to the drawing board again. Maybe James wasnt their son. I wonder what became of Harriet as I could not find a death. Turvil is often spelt wrong though.
Have a good one
