Suz - I am indeed having a hard time finding her parents and, unfortunately, I don't know anything more about them than their names, which is a bit frustrating. I do know that at least the father was of Welsh extraction if not born there himself and spoke Welsh at home.

Carol - Yes, she did have a son born then and your correct in that' he's still alive and that they came over on the Queen Elizabeth. It's actually for this son that I'm trying to track down more information about Ceri's parents and first husband. I don't believe I noticed the Glamorgan address but that makes sense and fits in with what the son's told me.

Do you know if 'the son' has the parents marriage cert,it will give more info about his father.

Or of course Ceri's birth cert (at a cost of £9-25 from http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/)

willl tell you who both her parents were.

You will need birth cert to confirm

but

I think Ceri's parents were John Jones who married Annie Jones

Emrys is also a Welsh forename

I can find no Ann Emrys BMD

Maybe the confusion is because  John's wife was Annie
and John's brother Emrys Jones also married an Annie????

I really think this is John Jones -but certificates needed to prove /disprove

Caradog Jones Head U 33 Dairyman Glamorganshire
JOHN brother U 32 Dairyman Glamorganshire
Emrys brother Married 30 Dairyman Glamorganshire

Daniel brother U 24 Dairyman Glamorganshire
ANNIE JONES visitor 21 unmarried Arwon? difficult to read (I think this is Annie who married John)

it looks like the Jones boys left a life down the mines to become Dairymen
