Quebec- Trois Riveres /Three Rivers.area.
« on: Thursday 21 July 11 09:58 BST (UK) »
Can anyone tell me please are there any directories -records available to the public- for this geographical area- covering the period 1920-1940.

I know that it is one of the oldest cities in Canada, so there must be records. but is there anything on line, or at the public library?
Are they all written in French these days?

Thank you

If you have Ancestry Canada or World, try looking in the Drouin database...that's a photographic collection of parish registers. It should go up to 1940, but it does vary by parish.

If you tell us what you are looking for, we can search for you. If the records are in French, we can likely give you a translation.

Cheers,

Thank you for your kind offer.

I am looking for possible details on William G. Massey born in Ontario in 1895. who came to Three Rivers according to his military records after his demobilization in 1919, as a bank employee.
He is buried at Edmonton, in the Field of Honour in 1971, Beechmount, and he was married to Mary Isobel Massey, with whom he had a daughter Mary Phyllis in 1918
His wife is in Lovell's directory from 1931, so I guess they separated.
The address on the military records is St Julie St. but I do not know  which year, since he is in the trade  directories for Edmonton only from 1944--but of course he may have been there before that date.
I know from other  sources---  shipping lists- that his wife in 1937 was  working with Maurice Duplessie. If that helps

Couldn't find any Massey in Trois-Rivieres, sorry. Lots of Masse, but all French forenames.
