Railway Terrace, Cwmparc
« on: Monday 25 July 11 16:48 BST (UK) »
I have just found my house on the 1911 census:

Registration district: Pontypridd
Sub-district: Rhondda
Parish: Rhondda
Address: ?? Railway Terrace, Cwmparc.

However on the census 1901 / 1891 / 1881 - I find the following information:

Registration district: Pontypridd
Sub-district: Ystradyfodwg
Parish: Ystradyfodwg
Ecclesiastical district: Cwmpark St. George
Address: ?? Railway Terrace, Ystradyfodwg.

I was led to believe that the cottages on Railway Terrace, Cwmparc were built in 1865, but I cannot find any record of them in the 1871 census. Were they called something else? I know they were locally known as Tub Row  :P
Researching the names Mckenzie / Mackenzie from Ross and Cromarty especially Scoraig and Rherivach.

The names Fraser, MacGillivary and Grant from Daviot & Dunlichity.

The name of Fraser from Lanarkshire.

The name of Bell from Northumberland.

The name Chilla / Chylla / Chyla from Poland.

Hello  :)

On 1871, enumerator seems to have just written Cwm Park as address, and Middle Hamlet of Ystradyfodwg

District 4b says "Part of Middle hamlet comprising all houses and cottages from Orkey (?) Brook to Glyncale (?) Brook ..... Cwm Park and all cottages on Park ucha farm"

Kind Regards
Morgan

Railway terrace was one of the first streets to be built in Cwmparc around the time of the opening of the 2 pits the Dare & the Parc. I also live in Cwmparc and you may be able to find out some more local info at the Parc Hall possibly?
