merchants silver seal ring help
« on: Tuesday 26 July 11 13:01 BST (UK) »
hi everybody ime a newbie at this sort of thing but any help would be appreciated, anyway ime a metal detectorest i love finding the history under our feet, but a few months ago myself and my friend had the find of a lifetime, we found this seal ring its been recorded with the portable antiquities and is now in the hands of the British museum going threw the treasure process, but ime trying to find its history, ther are two initials on the seal TF which we think stands for Thomas Foley, and they owned the then witley court in Worcestershire around the late to early 15th 16th centry, we found the ring just 3 miles away from witley court, but were just tying to see if anybody has ever come across this type of coat of arms anywhere, so we can try and piece together the rings history, but if any body can help weed be very grateful.

I inverted the image and the 'v' characters at the top looked like waves with a man standing up in a boat next to a mast.

Don't know that this helps, suspect it's just my imagination.
