Thank you for your time and results.  John and Caroline Watson were probably married in England.  Both of their sons, Robert and William, were born in Kent, England.  Robert was born in Rochester and William was born in Chatham in 1807. I have a copy of the christening records for both.

Did you search the parish records for the birth of John Watson or the bishop's transcripts?  When I search the bishop's transcripts many of the pages were not readable.  I was wondering if the parish records were any better.

As for the marriage of John and Margaret James, that would not seem to be the correct couple.  According to the 1851 Census he was born early 1800's.  It also states that his place of birth was Fishguard.

Thanks for all of your help.

I am still trying to find additional information on this family.   At this point, I am trying to find where they are buried and hopefully there will be tombstone inscriptions to provide additional information.  Does anyone have a list of church cemeteries where this family might be buried? The family is listed below with their death dates:
John Watson  d 1842  Haverfordwest district
Caroline Sarah d 1853
Robert              d 1872
William              d 1872
Mary(wife of William) d 1884
This family lived in Milford Haven
Thank you.

Milford Haven was not a parish during the time of your interest but came under Steynton Parish, therefore that is the location I would start. Last time I was there one had to fight through the overgrown brambles tree’s and bushes etc.
Thornton Cemetery did not begin until post 1868, the 1st burial being in the mid 1870’s
You could also search Hubberston, Hakin, Llanstadwell, they are just established church, there is also a number of non-conformist chapels and burial yards you could search in and around the area.
The Act of Churchyard clearance of the late 1860’s saw most old headstones lost from large churchyards with the introduction of out of town cemeteries, so there is limited chance that the headstones you seek will survive. However a number of churchyards sort of ignored the Act so that we are left with some good early headstones.
The alternative is that you look at the census each person appears in prior to their decease and start with that parish churchyard.
Do you have their burial entries, if not I shall be at the R.O. next week and can check Steynton burial register on you behalf if required.

Thank you for your reply.  I am slow to respond as we were out of town of the New Year.  If you have a chance, could you please look at the burial registers for this family.  Also, could you explain to me what the Act of Churchyard was?  Thank you again.

Yvonne
