THE LAINGS OF EAST LOTHIAN
« on: Wednesday 27 July 11 05:56 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone

I am descended from Johnne Laing (b around 1570 Edinburgh) and I have an interest in John Laing (born before 1570) who was Keeper of the Signet and was reputed to have originated from Aberlady, or close by. John Laing built, or at least extended, Redhouse Castle which was formerly Laing Castle. I am trying to trace any information about the Laings that might have lived in the area prior to 1550, and that might have been related to John Laing.

Not as far as I am aware. My family line moved to Musselburgh, then Glasgow.
