Gladys already has the Lowther/Smith marriage certificate, on which it states Jane's father was a waggonman.

My apologies - this was incorrect - I should have said that Gladys has the Adam Taylor - Jane Lowther marriage certificate, on which it states that Jane's father (John Smith) was a waggonman.

Quote
i have the marriage for Jane`s 2nd husband who was
Adam Taylor a widower full age Miner Annistford father Andrew Taylor a Shepard.
Jane Lowther, full age, Widow, Annistford, father John Smith Waggonman.
Witnessess were- Martin Tindale & Thomas Barras.
Marriage was at Killingworth 1873 June 21.

 Gladys, the reason I am pecking away at this is that  I think you are inking  in or pencilling in the marriage in Newcastle in 1863 of Jane Smith><George Lowther. Then onto the Jane Smith/Lowther marriage to Adam Taylor in 1873 in Tynemouth RD.

If, in relation to the two marriages, the Janes in both marriages, both had a father John Smith, who was a waggonman, then you can be confident it is the same woman.

In the meantime another marriage is getting in the way. In March Qtr 1865 a Jane Smith married Joseph Lowther. And this was within Tynemouth RD. Longbenton Parish, which included Dudley, Weetslade, Annitsford, etc lay within Tynemouth RD.

I am currently looking to see if this Lowther couple, Joseph and Jane, survived on to the 1871. If Joseph died before 1871 census, then it could have been this Lowther widow who went on to marry Adam Taylor, and not the Jane, widow of George Lowther. Ouch, this is hurting !

Hi Michael,  Here is two marriages i have got written in pencil.

1873 June 21 Killingworth Parish Church.
Adam Taylor. Full Widr. miner. Annistford. Father Andrew Taylor a Sheperd.
Jane Lowther. Full. Widow. Annistford. Father John Smith a Waggonman.
Witnesses-  Martin Tindale & Thomas Barras.

Marriage Longbenton Parish Church 17 Oct, 1868.
Adam Taylor. Bachelor. 27, Pitman. Annistford. Father Andrew Taylor a Shepered.
Margaret Jude. 29 Widow,. Dudley. Father Matthew Tiplady a Miner.                                                                                                Witnesses- Thomas Shaw & Mary Taylor.                                                                                                       .
I found those two amongst my papers but didn`t get George Lowther to Jane Smith, if i had it it must have vanished.  Ave looked all through me stuff and believe me its like a tip in here.

I have plenty of info on the Tiplady family which on this 1st sheet it states that Margaret Tiplady born 1837 Colliery Cramlington bap 25th June 1837.
Spouse Thomas Jude1835.
Spouse Adam Taylor 1838 .

I will need match sticks in me eyes after all this ;D

BTs don`t have the marriage dates that i want ???

Regards Gladys. :)

You will find very few marriages in the Durham Bishops Transcripts online after 1837, which is when Civil Registration began.

 Gladys,   I popped into Toon this afternoon to T & W Archives to look at the film of those three marriages, in the hope that a jewel of info might be awaiting.

The marriage in Killingworth 21 June 1873. As you had already transcribed it
 ( except you missed a final "s" off Witness Burgess. lol.

Marriage by banns. Adam signed his name. Jane Lowther made a mark "X"*

( Couple of other Lowther marriages around same place/time.
On 12 May 1873 a Jane Ann Lowther, dtr of miner John Lowther married George Cowans of Dudley, son of Thomas Cowans, seaman

On 2 June 1873  Maqrgaret Lowther, 18 dtr of John, miner, married Hindrie Gilmour 24, both of Dudley, son of John Gilmour, miner.
Wits James Lowther, Margaret Purd??? )
~~~~~~~~---------------
Longbenton marriage 17 Oct 1868.  Was as you already had it. Shaw witness was Thomas, but he stood as a witness in nearly every marriage about that time. Mary Taylor was also a witness on 24 Oct 1868, marriage of John Baker and Elizabeth Mordue.
Adam and Margaret Jude both signed their names.
~~~~~~~~-----------------

St Nicholas's , Newcastle 2 Nov 1863

George Lowther of full age, Bachelor, miner, of this parish, son of John Lowther, miner.
Jane Smith of full age, Spinster of this parish, dtr of John Smith , miner.

Both George and Jane made a signature**

Wits. J.C. Pearson, a serial witness., and William Scott.

_________________________________________________________

On marrying George Lowther in St Nicholas's on 2 Nov 1863, Jane Smith  son of John Smith, miner, made a signature.

On marrying Adam Taylor on 21 June 1873 in Killingworth, Jane Lowther, dtr of John Smith , waggonman. made a " X "

Hello Michael thank you ever so much for taking the time to look up the marriages and am pleased you found George Lowther and Jane Smith, smashing, its finding a census for her father though as there will be loads of John Smiths ;D and he could have been delivering coal in his waggon so said he was a coal miner in census i think.
Regards Gladys. :)
