Cause of death help
« on: Saturday 30 July 11 18:44 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,

I was hoping someone could help me with a cause if death.

I can't upload a picture because me scanner broke.

My 3 x GR grandfathers first wife died in 1856 in Hamilton, Lanarkshire. She died on the 29 of August 1856 and the cause of death begins with P, it looks like Peutonis but I dint think that is right, she had it for 8 days. Also as I read over roses death cert I read over her daughters birth cert and her daughter was born 8 days before rose died so I was thinking maybe she contacted a disease or something after she gave birth.

Any help would be great,

Gary

Have a look at Rudy's List of Archaic Medical Terms
http://www.antiquusmorbus.com/English/EnglishP.htm and you might be able to see the word.
