Here's Margaret Thomas, 88 and Margaret J Edmonds, 10 (on 1861 Census) in 1851

1851 Census (HO107  2460  491  10)
David Edmond, Head, Marr, 27, Sawyer, b. Pontanton, Carmarthenshire
Rachel Edmond, Wife, Marr, 39, b. Swansea
Ann Edmond, Dau, 3, b. Swansea
Margaret Jane Edmond, Dau, 1, b. Swansea
Margaret Thomas, Mother in Law, Widow, 76, formerly Dairy Maid, b. Llandilo
Address Green Hill Street

The name on the Census sheet is clearly recorded as Edmond not Edmonds.

As an example of ages varying, on the 1851 Census Margaret Thomas is 76 but on the 1861 Census 10 years later she is 88 - she has aged 12 years not 10 years!

Hope this helps

Hi,

Can you let me know what the Cambrian Index is? I haven't heard if it before.

The Cambrian Index is an online index to the contents of a large number of issues of the Cambrian newspaper. Once you find an entry in the index, the article can be retrieved from microfilm at Swansea record office.
