Tyler & Williamson Families
« on: Monday 01 August 11 02:13 BST (UK) »
Robert TAYLOR was born in Newtown Limavady, Londonderry, March 17, 1740/41. His parents were Roger TYLER & Elizabeth WILLIAMSON. Elizabeth's parents were Walter WILLIAMSON & Elizabeth.  Elizabeth had a sister, Rachael WILLIAMSON, who married George ASH in 1729. One of Roger Tyler's female descendants married into the HUEY family wich assumed the Tyler name. I would be very appreciative of any help in finding more information on these folkl, their ancestors, and their descendants. Thank you.

Hi,
Roger Taylor/Tyler married Elizabeth Williamson about 1735.Her father was William Williamson, a Limavady merchant. The couple had at least four children, Robert who emigrated to the USA and left 160,000 dollars, George who was a merchant and distiller in Limavady and two daughters Mrs Steele and Mrs Ann Forsyth whose descendants were in the USA.
Robert Taylors descendants were still running the Taylor/Wharton Iron and Steel Company in 1935. George of Limavady had a daughter Martha who had a runaway marriage with Henry Hewey (son of Henry Hewey and Elizabeth Ash). They had 18 children, 14 of whom survived and the eldest, Dr. Henry Hewey, took the name Taylor/Tyler when he succeeded to his grandfather's estate about 1794.
This information is taken from the Ash Manuscripts, D3220, PRONI.
