"Recollections of a Speyside Parish"
« on: Monday 01 August 11 13:18 BST (UK) »
I came across this book by James Thomson which you can read on-line.  Absolutely wonderful, evocative description of 1830s life on the Spey and required reading for anyone with relatives from Aberlour.  I put "recollections of a speyside parish download" into google and up it came.  Can't recommend it too highly.

Brilliant - thanks ever so much Jenny. I've been engrossed for the past hour - pity I will have to wait until tomorrow to read the next chapters!

Thanks again.

This has captured my imagination from the first sentence. Very readable - and I have no family links to the area. THanks for letting us know about this Jenny.  :)
