On seeing the enlarged photo my immediate reaction was, "Highland Regiment". Hack's post mentions the 1st Bn. Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders so, having looked at their badge, I can see a distinct similarity, particularly if you allow for the front of the cap obscuring part of the badge.
